This is my latest build. It's a commission piece using Monsters in Motions' resin Starship Athena kit from the movie " Starship Troopers". This ship is seen for just a few seconds at the very end of the movie. I understand it makes an appearance in later Starship troopers movies, but I haven't seen those yet.

The kit is built straight from the box and built up pretty easy and well. No major headaches were encountered with this kit. A good kit of a pretty cool ship.

Almost. I never really thought about it this way, but yeah, I guess it does. To me it always looks like a science fictionized zeppelin. Including the side engines. Think Hindenburg and look at it.

Actually, yeah that would make a really badass zepplin..

I'd love to say I have one in the pipeline, but regretably I don't and I don't even know of a kit of one. So this will be all my Starship Troopers stuff for now. Lots of other interesting things in the works though that will be seeing the light of day here in the months to come. Hopefully, you'll like what I've got in store. Many, many cool projects for months and years ahead to share. So please, do stay tuned and say hello once in a while. :D

This looks beautiful! Smooth paint work as always and I really like how you did the windows for all those decks in the ship's nose-- a strange thing to focus on, but I appreciate all the little stippling to give the illusion of windows.

Re: the movies-- I never saw the later ones either, just the first. I enjoyed it was very tongue in cheek, just as Robocop was ("I'll buy that for a dollar!"). Maybe not the best book to movie translation, but hey, a direct translation would have been about as exciting as watching paint dry since 99% of it was in a classroom. ;) Perhaps a movie based on John Steakly's novel, Armor [link] would have been better. lol

"it makes an appearance in later Starship troopers movies, but I haven't seen those yet."
don't - they are really bad.
I mean, the original is a joke when contrasted with the book (Verhoeven went nuts and made a strongly libertarian sociopolitical treatise into a lamebrained anti-fascist action-movie-cum-preachfest) but at least it was entertaining.
the sequels cannot claim that much.

Thank you for the advice about thelater movies. I'm glad I'm not missing much there. You're very right about Verhoeven's book to movie conversion. I pretty much try to not judge movies agianst the books they're based off of. I just usually wind up dissappointed in the movie when I do that. I just try to appreciate each on their own terms considering the format of each. The first one is a good entertaining movie, but definitely pales compared to the book.
