Description

How many of you remember the 1970's classic TV show EMERGENCY! ?

I grew up with the show, and even had the metal luch box as a kid (yes, my geekness now comes out of the closet....Nah, it was never really in the closet).

Today, 3 OCT 2010, a dream I have had for several decades came true. I got to go to the Los Angeles County Fire Museum near Anaheim, CA and see and touch this iconic fire rescue truck for real!!! What's very cool is it's in fully operable condition, and is even signed inside on the proper sides by Kevin Tighe (Fireman Paramedic:FMPM Roy DeSoto) and Randolph Mantoothe (FMPM Johnny Gage).

As you can see in the photos, the truck looks great and has been well cared for over the years.

Along with the Squad are the 2 Engines 51. the original Engine 51 is a 1965 Crown open top fire engine and the Second Engine 51 is a 1973 Ward. They are all is beautiful condition and look just great!

An interesting side note about the 1973 Ward Engine 51 is that after the TV show ended in 1978 it worked as the Univesal Studios fire truck until 1987. After this, it went to work as the fire truck for Yosemite National Park, where it served honorably until 2008 and never having missed a call. After 2008, it was at last retired to the LA Co Fire Museum and is being restored to it's original EMERGENCY Engine 51 look. It's pretty close now, but does need a fair amount of internal restoration work to properly preserve it.

I was such a fan that my parents and siblings built me a "firehouse" put my model Rescue truck into.  My all time favorite toy (at that time)
